Kathryn Jooten also passed today at 72. She had an incredible career considering she took her first acting classes at age 41 and never really got a job till she was almost 50. She was on many TV shows, including her last show, Desperate Housewives. She was on that for several years and the writers had her character die on the last episode of lung cancer. Coincidentally, she died yesterday of lung cancer.

Re: Rest In Peace

Ray Bradbury, the science fiction-fantasy master who transformed his childhood dreams and Cold War fears into telepathic Martians, lovesick sea monsters, and, in uncanny detail, the high-tech, book-burning future of "Fahrenheit 451," has died. He was 91.

He died Tuesday night. Prior, he had suffered a stroke and used a wheelchair, Bradbury remained active into his 90s, turning out new novels, plays, screenplays and a volume of poetry. He wrote every day in the basement office of his Cheviot Hills home and appeared from time to time at bookstores, public library fundraisers and other literary events around Los Angeles.

His writings ranged from horror and mystery to humor and sympathetic stories about the Irish, blacks and Mexican-Americans. Bradbury also scripted John Huston's 1956 film version of "Moby Dick" and wrote for "The Twilight Zone" and other television programs, including "The Ray Bradbury Theater," for which he adapted dozens of his works.

Don Grady -- who played the oldest son on the TV classic, "My Three Sons" -- has died at the age of 68 ... this according to one of his co-stars.

Grady had reportedly been suffering from cancer.

Grady was an original Mouseketeer on the "Mickey Mouse Club" ... before going on to play the role of Robbie Douglas on "My Three Sons" from 1960 to 1972.

Grady was also a pretty successful musician ... he's credited with writing the music for the Ellen Barkin movie "Switch" ... and the theme song for "The Phil Donahue Show."

Andrew Samuel "Andy" Griffith , 86, died this morning.
He was an American actor, director, producer, Grammy Award-winning Southern-gospel singer, and writer.

His legacy role, which earned him the title of "America's Favorite Sheriff" on "The Andy Griffith" show, set in fictional Mayberry, put North Carolina on the map in the entertainment industry. The show ran from 1960-1968, propelling a handful of spin-off programs. Griffith also produced and starred in the television series "Matlock."

Griffith received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005 from President George W. Bush.

Re: Rest In Peace
Richard D. Zanuck, the producer of "Jaws" and "Driving Miss Daisy," died Friday in Los Angeles, a spokeswoman for his production company told TheWrap. He was 77.

The cause of death was a heart attack.

The son of famed 20th Century Fox head Darryl F. Zanuck, he would make his own indelible mark on the movie business by championing a then-unknown director named Steven Spielberg.

Their 1975 adaptation of Peter Benchley's pulpy novel about a killer shark terrorizing a beach town would usher in a new era of summer blockbusters and fundamentally alter the type of movies that the industry makes. The DNA of "Jaws," which at the time was the highest grossing movie in history, can still be detected in such recent tentpole hits like "The Avengers" and "Avatar," cinematic spectacles that entice audiences through a combination of special effects and easily digestible plots.

Although best known as one of the foremost movie producers in Hollywood, he would also enjoy stints as a top executive at Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox, where he helped oversee such classic pictures as "The Exorcist" and "The Sound of Music."

New York's "Queen of Soul Food," Sylvia Woods, owner of Sylvia's restaurant in Harlem, has died at the age of 86.

If you ever lived or even went to New York at some point you most likely have heard or gone to this restaurant. I love when one of the reporters asked a representative from her family "If Sylvia is up in heaven , what do you think she is doing right now?" the reply was "Cooking, even God wants to eat good food." I thought "Damn don't you think she deserves a break after all these years and maybe have someone cook for her?"

Chad Everett, who starred in the 1970s TV drama "Medical Center," has died. He was 75.
Everett's daughter told the Associated Press that he died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles after a year-and-a-half-long battle with lung cancer.
Perhaps best known for his role as surgeon Dr. Joe Gannon, the actor was twice nominated for a Golden Globe for his perfomances on "Medical Center." The series ran seven seasons and, at the time, tied with "Marcus Welby, M.D." for longest-running medical drama.
