The British Columbia Forest Fire Service lost a great man last month.....
I can't use his name here ,in respect for his families privacy.
He acted as one of eight Provincial Fire Chiefs to fight forest fires in the entire province for 26 years, and retired last year due to health concerns.
Call name "Uncle", and part of the "Big Brass" command....years of service 26..21 years acting as Provincial Fire Command.
Total fires fought......88,624......Thats not a typo!
He was in command during the Year of the Fires ,when most of B.C. burned. The cities of Kelowna , Barierre, Kamloops, 70 Mile House, where all threatened or burning at the same time from interface forest fires.
In the Municipality of East Kelowna...hundreds of homes where consumed in a Fire Storm...140 homes...in 20 minutes. Because of his experience and command ...no lives where lost.
He ran his attack with military precision...
When "Uncle" was in charge ,the Fire Service was a proper piece of work.
It is with great sadness , and tremendous loss..
We lift our Axes, bow our heads, and salute you.

Cardinal Edward Egan, who headed the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York from 2000 to 2009, died Thursday after suffering a heart attack at his Manhattan residence. He was 82.
Egan succeeded Cardinal John O'Connor, a major figure among American Catholics. He was elevated to cardinal in May 2001, and retired in May 2009, a month after he was hospitalized and outfitted with a pacemaker.
Before Pope John Paul II named him New York archbishop, he served as bishop of Bridgeport, Conn., from 1988 to 2000.
The Bridgeport diocese was rocked by a sexual-abuse scandal involving priests. In 2002, he apologized in a letter read at Mass, saying, "If in hindsight we also discover that mistakes may have been made as regards prompt removal of priests and assistance to victims, I am deeply sorry."
In 2009, the the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled that records detailing sexual abuse allegations by priests in the Bridgeport diocese should be released
Three years later, Egan retracted the apology during a magazine interview, denying that sexual abuse occurred during his tenure.
"I never should have said that," he told Connecticut Magazine. "I don't think we did anything wrong."
As archbishop, Egan oversaw 413 parishes. On Sept. 11, 2001, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani summoned the cardinal, who spent the day anointing the dead and distributing rosaries to workers searching the smoldering rubble of the Twin Towers. He also presided over many funerals.
Egan, who was born and raised in Oak Park, Ill., was an expert in church law who spoke French, Italian, Latin and Spanish. He was ordained a priest in Chicago in 1957.
The cardinal was a doctrinaire opponent of birth control, abortion and gay marriage. In a 2008 column in the diocese's newspaper, which featured a photo of a 20-week-old fetus, he equated abortion with the mass murders carried out by Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin.
Egan also assailed politicians who supported abortion rights.
He assailed former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, a pro-choice Republican, for receiving communion from now-retired Pope Benedict XVI during his papal visit in April 2008.
That summer, he denounced House Speak Nancy Peolsi, a pro-choice Catholic Democrat, for saying during a Meet the Press interview that no one knows "when life begins."
"Anyone who dares to defend that they may be legitimately killed because another human being 'chooses' to do so or for any other equally ridiculous reason should not be providing leadership in a civilized democracy worthy of the name," the cardinal said.
Just weeks before he retired, Egan made waves within the Catholic hierarchy by saying the church would eventually consider whether to allow priests to marry.
"I think that it's going to be discussed; it's a perfectly legitimate discussion," he told a radio station. "And I am not so sure it wouldn't be a good idea to decide on the basis of geography and culture not to make an across-the-board determination."

Bruce Crump was the original drummer with the rock band Molly Hatchet from 1976 to 1983 and 1984 to 1991. He also played as a member of Canadian band Streetheart in the early 1980s, appearing on their Live After Dark recording, and joined several of his former Molly Hatchet band mates in the band Gator Country in the mid-2000s. At his death, Crump was in the Jacksonville, Florida-based band White Rhino and the newly reformed China Sky.
Bruce was scheduled to play this Friday for Crystal Brown , Danny Joe Brown's widow this Friday at Cliff's.
Bruce passed March 16, 2015.

I remember seeing Molly Hatchet at a guy I was dating's venue. It's so strange to see so many of the bands we saw in person dying off. I feel like they should all still be playing.So sad.

The Partridge Family cast is mourning the loss of one of their own. Suzanne Crough, best known for playing Tracy Partridge on the beloved series, died at age 52 in Nevada on Monday, April 27.
One of Crough's family members confirmed the news to TMZ, but did not go into detail of what caused her death.

Crough starred in The Partridge Family from 1970 to 1974, when she was ages 7 to 11. She later appeared on TV shows such as Mulligan's Stew and Wonder Woman, and last starred in the 1980 TV movie Children of Divorce.

Ben E. King known for his hit song "Stand By Me" passed away as well.
and it appears B.B. King is not going to be around much longer too, he has entered hospice care in his home town.

Horror and Sci-Fi film legend Christopher Lee is dead at age 93. most notable roles included Saruman (Lord of the Ring/Hobbit trilogies) and Count Dooku in Star Wars. also known for his role as Dracula, and i think he played Sherlock Holmes in a few movies.
amazingly, he was a very good Heavey Metal guitarist/singer as well.

Actor Omar Sharif, best known for his roles in classic films Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago, has died aged 83.
Egypt-born Sharif won two Golden Globe awards and an Oscar nomination for his role as Sherif Ali in David Lean's 1962 epic Lawrence of Arabia.
Hidalgo, The Black Hole two other movies.
He won a further Golden Globe three years later for Doctor Zhivago.
Earlier this year, his agent confirmed he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
His agent Steve Kenis said: "He suffered a heart attack this afternoon in a hospital in Cairo."
Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, who appeared with Sharif in 1999 film The 13th Warrior, remembered him on Twitter as "one of the best".
"He was a great storyteller, a loyal friend and a wise spirit."

It's a dark day in Hollywood... and in bookstores everywhere. Bestselling author Jackie Collins died of breast cancer on Saturday, Sept. 19. She was 77.
"It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic, and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today," the family said in a statement to The Insider With Yahoo. "She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends, and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words."
Collins kept her stage 4 cancer diagnosis private since she received it six and a half years ago, primarily only telling her three daughters, Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46. She didn't even tell her sister, actress Joan Collins, until just a few weeks ago.
