Birthday Ideas
My wife's birthday is on the 28th and I've exhausted all ideas over the 20 years we've been together. I always know what to buy her, I need ideas on presentation, something out of the ordinary. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Birthday Ideas
Maybe if we knew what kind of woman she is, it might help...outdoorsy, music lover, a romantic, etc...and if you don't mind, what are you getting her for her present?

Re: Birthday Ideas
Even though you may have always known what to buy her for her birthday, etc etc, which is nice because then she knows that you care for what she wants, etc. Have you ever tried to do anything that requires thoughts about your feelings for her?

I'm just that type of person that would go a little out of the way just to show how much I care even on days such as a birthday. For example, I bought however many balloons (the amount of their birthday age) and what I just did was asked his family to help me out and write out however many reasons they wanted to say on why they love him. Then I wrote them all on little pieces of paper and stuffed them individually into a balloon, then blew them up. Later, had him popped them and read them.

For being that you've been with this special lady for 20 some years... that's awesome. Just have you tried anything such as that? Just do something that comes to mind that you think would show her a lot of how much she means. That's what I did. It was the first idea that came through and I did it.

Hope that helps some.

Otherwise, I know, myself... I like to put together some pictures and put a certain book together (scrapbooking wise)...even though many 'guys' don't do this... they can be good at it just as well as us ladies who does it. Then put on there why that picture's your favorite, or what you remember from the day that picture was taken, etc... once you start, ideas will just start pouring in your mind left and right.

Again, hope this helps. I think at times it means more coming from inside than just buying things. GOOD LUCK!! Let us know what you came up with!

Re: Birthday Ideas
I have a really cool necklace and bracelet that is by a company called Pandora. You can add "beads/charms" for different events, etc. I love my necklace. I bought it after the sale of the household items at my mom's house. I bought certain beads for certain events, like her birthday, etc. It is pretty cool and is something she may enjoy adding to along the way. There is a website you can visit and get the information on stores in your area. The beads can be inexpensive to expensive. I'll send you the link to the site.

Re: Birthday Ideas
Try a simple poem.
It doesnt have to be fantastic or lovey dovey, it can just be full of memories and thoughts that we forget to say.
Been with my hubby for 25 years and yes, you do run out of ideas, but simple things can matter more after this amount of time.
Remembering when you first met, your feelings and thoughts compared to how you feel and think now can mean so much.
To be together after such a long time, you forget the little things, especially as life takes over...

She is a strong independent type, likes music, doesn't like the outdoors too much, I'm the romantic in this relationship, loves clothes and shoes, (probably not as much as Juils )loves to eat but has a very fast metabolism so always stays slim, likes music, great nurturing mom, very funny and attractive.

She loves clothes, so as part of my present I always get her a new outfit from lingerie and shoes, up to a new leather coat. I have an uncanny knack for knowing female clothing really well, and what looks good on her and fits her perfectly every time. She won't buy clothes for herself, she always wants me to pick the clothes out. Another part of the present is a full day trip to a day spa, manny/peddy/masseuse/mudbath/facial etc. etc. She has always wanted a convertible car, but it's not in our budget at this time, so I'm renting her a convertible mustang for a week ( hope the weather stays good) and to top it off, I'm bringing her favourite restaurant to us, borrowing my friend's lakeside house with a heated deck and having the food served to us on the deck with a table for two.

I did the balloon thing for her 25th birthday, 25 balloons and each one had a note of why I love her and admired her. Went over really well.

As for the scrapbooking, I have made scrapbooks of photos for our 10th anniversary, I collect cameras and have my own darkroom, take literally thousands of photos each year, I made a "this is your life" scrapbook with photos, and writings, from , me, her parents, her siblings, I even tracked down some of her teachers to write a few things in the book from when she was in grade school.

For last year, I know she likes mystery novels so I took one of her author's favourite books and planned the presents as the chapters were written, she ended up having to find the presents by deducing who was murdered in correlation to the rooms in our house I decorated to fit the novel. Took me all night to set that up, but it was worth it.

She can't wear bracelets, not comfortable to her, she has a floating heart necklace that I left for her to find in her dressing room on our wedding day. I left it with a note saying that This is my heart, I give it to you fully and openly with all my mind, body and soul. She has never removed it or worn another necklace.

Unfortunately she's not big on poetry, I do leave her notes in places I know she will eventually see, for example a note in a drawer that she will see when she gets her clothing, or a note on the mirror in the bathroom while she's having a shower. I even put one on the lid of the ice cream container, especially if I know she's had a bad day at work, I know she goes for the Hagen-Daz

Re: Birthday Ideas
How about sending her on a hunt for her present. I did this a cpl years ago for a friend, takes a little planning. My friend loved it. I had several presents in different places. Each time she found one there would be a note telling her where to go next. If they are public like a restaurant , it takes coordinating with a person working there. May not be all that original but how many people do it.

Did that for her 30th b-day. Made a treasure map of the city and had to get to different places by car, bus and rowboat, ended on a rented yacht for the night.

Re: Birthday Ideas
That's the problem, I don't know how to present the presents this year. I might just drive up in the car, have everything put into the trunk and go from there. I'm not into it as much this year, I've been hurt and we are currently working it out, but for that reason it's not as fun or appealing as it used to be.

Re: Birthday Ideas
I'm so sorry to hear about the hurt part, Mori...sure hope ya'all can work through it, sounds like you have a strong fondation.
Maybe soon, you two can celebrate with some kind of "re-committment"...sometimes renewed promises, affirmations, even renewed vows can give a fresh and forward look at things.
Wish you the best, dear!
