oh, discovery, animal planet, the history channel. and the sci fi channel. that kind of stuff.

if your talking particular shows---STAR TREK!!
and baylon 5.and mst3k.

when i was younger and a member of the central arizona speculative fiction society, saying sci fi labeled you as a outsider. you always said science fiction. and i am trekkie's. i was one in the 60's and i refuse to be called a trekker.

just hi-falauting talk

Have to say I agree with that one..... We like a lot of different stuff, History, Discovery, TLC,CMT, SpikeTV
Navy NCIS, Stagate(Both shows), Nip/Tuck, Star Trek (any), CSI (all), Las Vegas and....Fear Factor, Smallville....Too many others to name

There is never enough time to watch everything, Thank goodness for TiVo!!!!!

Oh YES! I Love It. I set my cable company's PVR to tape any and all West Wing epidoes.

It used to be almost too fast to follow, but I don't have a problem now. Did it slow down or did I get better at paying attention? I think the latter because I've seen the first season reruns and NP. Who says TV can't help with language skills? I learned to understand british accents because of Monty Phython.

Re: T.V.
I do not watch TV unless it is breaking news of some kind (and Not election BS ) television cannot hold my interest for more than 15 minutes, then it becomes sleepind aid. I find all the flaws in tv shows, and movies,,,,,for instance,,,,a murder is comitted using a revolver, then later in the court room the prosecution is holding up a semi auto pistol as exibit A. If its not real and true its not for me.

Re: T.V.
how about chase scene where the same car loses 6 hubcaps, or a truck jumps , visably bends the whole front end on impact, and loses the back bumper, a few seconds later it is in perfect shape
A movie I really like is about a 70 Dodge Challenger, at the end the guy smashes into a buldozer, it is clearly a 67 -8 camaro that hits.
they think we are dumb as shit , and have the attention span of a 3 year old

now I'm done bitchin

Re: T.V.
...you are on the right track, backfromaustitx. The shows writing is a tour de force for the showcasing of the brilliance and complexities of the spoken word.It is full of connotative and denotative
Americana speech patterns with a heaping tablespoonful of double entendre thrown in for good measure. Its pace is mind-blowing and engaging(those who are A.D.D amongst us should have a ball with the pace of this show). The director of photography is a kick-ass craftsman
and true purveyor of his craft. It raises the bar for us in terms of the quality of viewership and
our own use and deepened appreciation and love of the language.

Peace and Blessings,
Artful1

hope you never saw "the blues brothers" wish i knew the destroyed car count on that one.

there used to be several programs on t.v, all by the same production company, police and detective shows. they ruined them for me, because the bad guys ALWAYS drove a ford. even when you weren't supposed to know who the bad guy was.

us kids had virtualy no tv during the watergate hearings. my dad would watch re-runs of the re-runs.
and i rather enjoyed the ev mecham trial.

but that's not what i wanted to say. in michigan, daddy worked for chevy. but he drove a ford f-100.

Re: T.V.
Discovery Channel's "Extreme Engineering" is an excellent series, I seem to have a thing about construction equipment, especially the tall cranes, the kind you hafta climb, and those huge drills for burrowing tunnels. I never really understood my fascination for them, but I will concede that it could be a Freudian thing.
