Warmth
There are no promises for the bright sun
To warm me from the cold world I’ve faced
There is no way to change what might have been
And no magic way for pain to be erased
There is no way to promise tomorrow
To someone that you love
The gifts of life are random and beautiful
And are given from above
There are so many things we know exist
Without the benefit of touch
Like a broken heart that overwhelms us
Because we’ve given way too much
A first kiss can never happens twice
But it is always a great place to start
Falling in love is a risk everyone wants to take
We all want to be given someone’s heart
Love is the place we want to find safety
In the arms of those who care
We want to surround ourselves by
Teaching each other that it is safe to share
Giving yourself to others takes a certain risk
And no one wants to be cast away
Just given the chance to love
And share your life each day
I long for the moment to be held
In the arms of the one I chose
And feel the warmth in my heart
At the end of each day when my eyes close
