you look them in the eye and say "i'm sorry" and mean it.
in my long career of apologizing for dumb shit i've pulled, i found that works best.

If youre talking about a woman , just say, write it, email it. if youre talking about a man, use the brick method remember, write it down , tie it to a brick and aim at either head, While they are recovering from this severe injury, they will be ready to accept a simple apology because they will need you around to fetch them a beer, find the remote, ...you know,

SO you are telling me I need to get into my car and make a trip to him? Well then I have to get his address...and also a car since mine is dead! And in a million pieces! I would happily get him a beer and nurse him after I threw a brick at him! But do I get something outta that too? Maybe a thank you kiss for apologizing?
