Not quite certain which way to turn
It’s hard to know what I will learn

This year has worn me down so far
That the quick of my heart seems it’s one huge scar

I can’t take much more adverse news
It makes me wonder who’s tightening these screws

From January to present day
I’m a raw nerve about to fray

There seems no escape from this dramatic avalanche
If only someone would give me an outreached branch

I am usually upbeat and full of life
But today I felt impending doom and strife

I could not keep my sadness at bay
And tears poured from my eyes and heart all day

Do my shoulders seem wider from heaven on high?
Because from here on earth I can’t help but wonder “why”?

So many heartwrenching things are happening to me
What is the lesson God wants me to see?
