Immortalized with a simple rhyme
Contemplating the outcome if I stayed
Someone eventually betrayed
A likely cost of compromise
Our own grotesque masquerade
Surrendering to an inescapable demise
Blinding truths in once lover’s eyes
Dulled now to a lusterless haze
The outcome hardly a surprise
Leaving two, parting ways
Baring love I’ll never show
The roots I’ll never know
