Legal Advice
I have noticed since 7/16 that I am recieving meseges from "mailer-damon from yahoo.
These concern e-mails I alledgedly sent that contain links to pornographic site.
Since I have not sent these mails, this is my question.
We all are well aware that it is a felony to abuse, or use the Us mail for illeagal activiity.
Do these same rules apply to e-mail??

The only porno that I know is illegal, would be that of underage participants and that involving animals. I think. I could be wrong, but I do not believe that those rules apply to the internet, unless it involves the fore mentioned.

Someone slap me silly if I'm wrong, please...but I think that anytime you get those messages, anytime there is supposedly email sent from you, that you are certain you did not send, is an indication of a pretty serious security problem going on for you.
It could mean a virus or trojan is working or trying to work from your computer address book and/or mail program.
These trojans are almost always a random and mass type of attack, so don't take it personally...but I'm sure Yahoo has a security page somewhere that will give you some guidelines, and step by step instructions on how to report and handle this kind of thing.
And if I'm way off about this, hopefully someone who does know what they are talking about will offer some better information for ya.

Probably this is just spam, but instead of sending the mails to your email they send them to unexisting email from your email (they don't need your email account information to do that). That is how they appear in your mailbox as bounced mails. I'm not sure if this is the case, but if you want you can forward some of those mails to me and maybe I can tell you more

Suggestion: display the full headers of the message(s) and forward to abuse@xxxxxxx for the provider (in your case yahoo.com). You will get a "form letter" in reply but all are very serious about spam and spoofing. Check customer support to be sure for other providers but that address will get the message to their security people.

Good post there, smitty! It's a hassle, but I do take the time to report all my ebay, paypal, bank phishing and spoof emails...it's the only way they can keep up with and fight all the new spams and scams....

Thank you all for the advice. I am not as concerned about the content of the web sites, but more of the security. Mostly about if they are using the e-mail address, what else are they using??

Oh now you tell me!,,I just started using E-bay for the first time a couple weeks ago, I hope that I do not get that crap on my computor, I just paid a guy to clean it up about six months ago, and he switched me from norton to norton proffessional, so far I have not gotten any viruses again.

These have since dissapeared and thank you all for the advice.
I use "Defender Pro" for anti-virus and firewall. Works much better than Norton and no where near the problems.

Well, that's good to hear justchange!
...and hothands, the only legit ebay emails you will get in your yahoo, hotmail, outlook express etc...will also appear in your online ebay email account in that inbox, identical emails you find there are legit, any others that show up in your other email inbox, but not in your ebay mailbox are fraudulent phishing scams.
