What do you believe?
There are some that believe that homosexuality is the result of enviromental influences, and some beleive that it is decided on early on in the womb. Are both possiblities, all things based on an individual level?
I'm more apt myself to beleive in the later, since there are those born with both female and male genitially, and it use to be, when this happened, the doctors allowed the parents to make a choice as to what they wanted their baby to be, boy or girl, then surgery was scheduled based on that choice, sadly many parents made the wrong choice. I beleive now, if a baby is born as a "hermamorpadite", it's recommended to the parents to wait till the child starts growing up and "showing" thier own natural sexuallity.
Can a person be born straight, then "turn gay " or a gay person be "straightened"?

Hello chazzy really i dont know but for myself i would like to be with a man in the heat of the moment you know maybe while the wife watches but as far as being with a man in a relationship not a chance never happen. Take care sweety

I know a few gays more than lesbians. Actally if I know any lesbians, they consider themselves Bi. Anyhow, one of my gay friends has told me awhile back that you don't turn gay or get straightened. It's a feeling inside of you and its just a matter of time before you could figure it out for yourself and actually admit it.
For instance, back at my old school there was this guy who was all pretty obvious that he was gay as in how he carried himself, etc. But he was always chasing after girls. Turns out a few years ago he moved further south someplace and "found out" he was gay . Then spreaded a rumor that my friend had 'turned him gay '. My friend was quite pissed and informed me of it when I had seen him and thats when he told me you don't turn anyone gay .
Again, just a matter of time and when you admit to yourself first that you may or may not be gay , etc. Its just the fact that some people are more worried about what others may think of them.
Thats what I would know about it.

think its about the same as asking what's your favorite color. there is no logical one reason. just a combination of experiences, ideals, and biology adding up to create a preference.
to be perfectly honest I dont think anyone is gay OR straight... everyone is bi. just a matter of your upbringing (specific morals and vitues you're told are important) and how badly you want to fit into the "norm" etc etc. Like with everything people are gonna swing from one extreme to the other with few brave enough to walk the middle ground.
and um.. BC are you a boob girl yet?

I believe that sexual preference is basically hard-wired. Not necessarily genetic, but for some reason or other - the brain is and operates differently in homosexuals than in heterosexuals.
Can a gay be straightened? Possibly, I know of one woman who lived in lesbian relationship for several years but now is happily married to a male and would never consider going back to homosexuality. Perhaps she is "bi" or perhaps she is straight, but I think she found she can love one person at a time - no matter the sex.
Is it important? Not to me. I'm lesbian - and although I slept with plenty of men in the past, I do not think I am capable of forming intimate relationships with males.
That everyone is bi? No. Many people have no interest whatsoever in one sex or the other, just as some have interest in both. A small minority has no interest in other people for romance or sex at all. I think the "everyone is bi" is a cop out argument put forward by bisexuals in hope of gaining acceptance from both the hetero and homosexual communities.

if there is anyone who cares less about being accepted by a "group" i'm it and I can provide private references of those who know me intimately who'll back that up so I'm not gonna bow down to the cop out jab. LOL
at the same time I'm not sure I can buy into the hardwire excuse either. sexual preference is just that.. a choice on what you prefer. whether it's a conscience choice we can control I'd probably say not, but I dont think it is something people are born into. just an accumilation of life experiences and maybe a little "off the norm" hormone/chemical help in the body?
either way i dont see any general blanket answer I can totally back up so I cant really argue my points against anyone else's.. especially someone who's intelligent and living the life.

I think that eveyone has "bi" or " gay " tendencies in them. Life circumstance and experience somewhat dictate wheather these are explored ot not.

I have to go with what BCB said. Kinda something that you decide on and a lot may have to do with how you're being raised as well. Even though half the times the opposites happen and turn out just as well only the ones close to the initiating decision maker has to accept how they choose to be. You just raise the child(ren) the best you can and let them make the major decisions in life that suits them.

I think your pre-disposed as to what orientation you are. I really don't think you can turn one way or another, it is not a learned behavior. I know a gal that is very comfortable with both. She just plain has a lot fun and sexual gratification with both sexes.

I think I've heard and/or read several things about how our gender is formed in the womb...something about...up to a point we all start out the same, then at one stage, hormones are triggered from the brain and travel to little tiny, tiny, buds of sex organs that could be ovaries or testicles, and another little bit of tissue that could be a penis or a clitoris.
But for awhile there, we are all the same...

my answer is simple: i dont have a clue. why doesnt seem to be as important to me as the face that homosexuality and lesbianism DO exist. are people born headed in a certain sexual direction? cant tell ya....my first wife was married to me for 10 years, another guy for 9 years, and THEN decided she was gay .......

Wow...I have known a few women, that after a marriage or two, ended up in a long term serious committed relationship with another woman.
I gotta agree with ya, Dave...in general, we humans are definitely a mystifying species...regardless of our sexual orientation or preferences.
