When people reach middle age and over should they consider sex as being less important and unnecessary?

My wife keeps telling me that sex is a pastime only for young people. According to her, sex is something that I should forget about and no longer need. She refuses all intimate actions. Should I look for sex with other women then?

In my humble opinion "Age don't mean shit"....I'm not saying you should cheat, but intimate interaction with the opposite sex is not only natural ,but healthy.
You also should consider the health of your prostate at your age...If your wife won't drain the fluid from it to maintain prostate health....Then you, or someone else should do it.
...And if you question my theory about age don't mean shit....Have a real good look at the women around here on this site.

I do keep my prostate active by masturbating but it is just not the same or enjoyable as sex will be with a female partner . I also enjoy giving a female partner sexual pleasure too. I find that giving pleasure helps with my libido and besides sex should be a pleasurable activity for both male and female.

Age is not an issue. Actually most HEALTHY women I know say they find sex more pleasurable as they got older. We know our bodies better. We are more confident as we get older as well. I agree with Kiss on this one. There are many reasons a person looses their sex drive. Many just accept it as a "I'm just getting old" type of thing but it really is a health thing not age. Many women never get checked because they don't tell their doctor.She might be very shocked if she were to have a check up and talk to her doctor. She might think there is nothing she can do.
I know I have not had my sex drive drop at all as I got older. I have had times in my life that sex had to take a back seat to other more pressing things but trust me, sex was something I always wanted! Before you do something that you might kill your marriage, why not try talking to her about seeing a doctor. Be careful not to do it in a threatening way. To many times I have heard things like "He said there is something wrong with me" or "He told me if I don't change he will find it someplace else". That would not go over well. Tell her you are worried that there might be something going on with her health and you think it would be a good idea to make sure that her lack of wanting sex is not because their is something else going on with her body.Maybe show her an article about it from an online medical site.Tell her that's what made you concerned.She will be more receptive to concern than threats.
