Cell Phones
I'm not fond of cell phones, but with my busy life and schedule lately, I'm considering eliminating my land line and converting over to a cell phone. It's been years since I had one, and I'd like to know the kit and kaboodle, bells and whistles, do's and don'ts from the cell phones themselves to cell the phone companies and coverages.

I've been happy with Verizon for several years. [bet Falls would agree--lol]
Alltell is now part Verizon and soon part ATT. T-mobile is part of Sprint/Nextel.
I'd go witha basic plan that has the minutes you feel you need. If you're not sure get more than enough. It's better to pay for too many than not enough.

To determine the minutes you need, check out your phone bill and look at the minutes that you normally talk on the phone during PEAK times. It's usually good to add in a bit of a buffer in there too, since you'll likely get a month where you talk longer than normal.
My advice on the texting plans is to get the lowest one, and pay attention to the amount of texts you use. If you're reaching the limit for the plan fairly quickly, then you can call in and upgrade it to the higher ones. People tend to text more than they actually talk now, you'll soon be one of those people too.
If you go to court a lot, try to get a phone without a camera. Its damn near impossible, but still possible.
Don't go cheap on the phone, but don't waste your money on a $500000000 phone either. The best thing to do would be go check out the pones at the store, then go home and order it online. You get much better deals on the phones online than you do at the stores. For example, my last phone would have cost me $200 at the store, after a $50 mail in rebate, I ordered it online and didn't pay a cent.

I've not had a land line for years now. But you can still get DSL over your old phone line.
