Flipping someone off,,,,giving them or recieving the finger,,,,,
Does this seem to be a common practice in your area? and when it happens, is the jesture just joking or is it hostility? If it happens to you, what return jestures do you give in response? Here in and around Chicago its an every day occurance especialy in traffic, If I happens to me, I usualy just roll the window down and ask them if thats their IQ or sperm count. How about you?

Re: Flipping someone off,,,,giving them or recieving the finger,,,,,
some woman flipped me off yesterday actually. I pulled up next to her at the next light and asked her when. I dunno, I thought it was an invitation. She actually laughed. Guess I didnt piss her off that bad.
OH, yeah Im around chicago too and I use the hell out of the phrase and the gesture. I dont usually return it or use it in traffic though. I drive 100 miles a day I dont care anymore. If I receive it, I usually give a wave or say thank you. That pisses em off even more.
I use it with my friends more than anything. Usually joking but with some truth like saying, hey come on that's too far.

I don't do it. And when someone flips me off (which is often because I don't drive fast enough for them) I just ignore it and keep driving.
People's road rage problems are of little concern to me. I can't risk getting into a physical match with some guy who is already engraged about something, so I hold my tongue and temper.

It's not a good idea, although it might temporarily feel good, to incite the further ire of someone that would be so antisocial.
In Texas there is a conceal and carry law. After a short class anyone can legaly carry a concealed handgun. There are also no restrictions on rifles . I can carry my AR-15(M16 type) on my front seat. If I was such an irresponsible person, I could slap a 30 round magazine in it and chamber a round of .223 if I wanted to.
Regardless of the law, what do you think a stressed out person is capable of?
Although I'm a trained killer Army toughguy *I* ignore such lunatics as much as possible. The fact is that the lunatics have the expectation of safety you feel on their side. Tactical advantage of knowing which one of them is a threat is negated by societies expectations of limits on behavior.
Paraphrased: If a nutcase wants you dead, you will die because you won't know it's coming. If the nutcase doesn't interact with you, they will not want *you* dead.
Don't interact.

I heard about that... very sad
There was also a case near Irving where a man was shot randomly while sitting in traffic. There was no confrontation whatsoever!! It's a scarey world out there.

In Chicago the gas prices are so high the Driveby gangbangers are carpooling. So now they have the punks in the front seats flipping their fingers, while the punks in the back wave their hand guns.
