Wow, pretty tough question really, I'm sure you want some kind of indicator before moving on with this...cuz if he's not open to it, the friendship is probably gonna suffer, but I'm sure there's got to be some way to approach him with the subject?
Anyone been in a similiar situation that might be able to help here?

Try getting toegether for a guy's night, beer, srtip club then back to yours to watch porn. start jerking off yourself and see if he does too. then take it from there
