Need to purchase a T.V.
I'm looking for a 27" to 30" inch T.V. for my parents. Anyone have any insights/clues what to purchase and to look for?

Been like 15 years since I bought my 27" Sony so I'm not up on what is good these days. Make sure it is digital ready or they will need a converter box after Feb. 09. Always had good luck with Sonys. 15 years and going strong!

my advice? go to Best Buy, or Circuit City, ask them what THEY'D recommend, then tell them you are just price checking. then go to Wal-Mart and see if they have something similar. go for the cheapest you can find. 
GOOD LUCK....new tv's are spendy....

Sony is still #1 when it to TV then it Samsung, JVC, Sharp, and Toshiba. I work in Electronics at Sam's Club make sure it is at lest a 720p and it is an LCD tv and u should be good

All of those brands are good.... but in my experience, Magnavox t.v.'s have a very long life. I remember growing up with one of them that sat on the floor (can't remember what they're called). It lasted forever, it seemed!

I did my homework concluding the purchase of a Sony 32" LCD T.V. worked out well and suitable for their needs. Thank all of you for helping and assisting me through this electronic voyage!

console tvs, we had one that had a record player, 8-track player, and AM/FM stereo....it was the shit, for it's time, mom and dad bought it an auction, for $75....

I've had this RCA for 8 years now and no problems. It's a console type and really like it. Only real tv has it's own cabinet.  
Anyway, check with the stores in your area and see what they recommend, also check online. consumer Reports is a good place to start.

get the new one with the digital tuner for the switch over in Feb.
zenith or mag , we seemed to fix a lot of RCA's and mag,. Curtis was just a pain. i kinda been looking my self and no longer work on that stuff ( use to work for a authorized service center for zenith, mag and RCA) Silvana use to be a good brand , north American Phillips lost the name and now they are white westing house wearing the Silvana name.
remember if it breaks down are u going to get it fixed at wal mart?
