"WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
I am an avid Trekkie(Star Trek for the un-initiated).I have an inquiry I want to put out there.Let me know your thoughts in this year of decision.Who made a better Captain of the Enterprise. Was it Captain Kirk(MY BOY!!!!),or
was it Captain Picard(that BIATCH!!!!).

LOL

Holla at ya boy!!!

Peace and Blessings,

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
That one is an easy one for me. Got to be Picard. Kirk annoyed me w/ all the needless flings and well even the way he talked. Picard was definately the man!

By the way I recently watched an episode of Futurama that was all about the original star trek cast. Have you seen it, it was so funny.

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
It has to be Kirk. For his era and the time that he was captain, it could be no one else.
I love picard, Sisco, Janeway and Archer, but Kirk will always be first in my heart, as he was the one I was raised with, even if it only was reruns.
I wish that we had been able to go to the trek convention this year for Scotty's farewell.

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
Well, both captain's leadership styles reflect the ideals of their time. Kirk was a charismatic go-getter type that always led his people head-on. Picard was a more realistic-type TEAM leader.

The differences are reflected in one other profession: Airline Pilots. In the 60's most pilots were ex-air force and the strong, silent, take charge kind of leader. In the 80's airline pilots had to become team leaders, allowing the co-pilot to reduce human error in the cockpit. Not completely, of course, but the trend continues today.

I didn't realize doohan was dead! Thats too bad, I started reading his collaberative scifi novels years ago and now there won't be any more! What were they about? The adventures of an Engineer, of course! :SOB:

Goodbye to a fellow Canuck!

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
oh... please... Picard was a politically correct paper pusher..... Kirk is a cowboy with more libido than brains... I'll take Kirk every time.... in the chair, and in bed.. (along with whatever alien VD he is spreading this week).

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
Picard is a watered down version of kirk, I lost interest in Star trek , when they changed it , it just wasn't the same anymore .I have a bunch of the original on Beta tapes LOL.

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
although TNG was a better series, far more believable, bette scenery, costumes, acting. and plots.. Kirk and friends blasting around the galaxy fucking every piece of half-humanoid alien pussy they could find was pretty cool, but a bit far stretched......

Whats all this talk about Kirk sexing it up all over the place. He only had a few encounters in all of the TOS series, right?

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
Correct, again, backfromaustintx.Kirk was actually an amalgam of personnas. He was virile and cerebral;driven and detailed;spontaneous and cautious;in touch with his sexual disposition but
selective.I would like to note that he did count on the people that mattered the most in terms of the success of any given mission and especially in matters of life and death;Spock and Bones(the other two thirds of the mighty troika). Also,if you analyze the successive series attempts to keep the Enterprise Concept/Ideal alive, you will find that those subsequent plots were derivatives of the original series' storylines.
Check this closely, you will find it to be apparent. The original series ,when first aired in the late sixties, was not popular at all.It terminated just after a few seasons. It was critiqued as being to dour and serious(what they meant was,"too universally vissionary and culturally impactful" .This was really deep and at times even moving episodic television.the themes actually were realistic and even socially relevant since most of the subject matter was drawn from the socio/economic/political global
landscape of that time period.

Long live Kirk and company....truly the BIG DOGS
of the Star Trek franchise.

Peace and Blessings,
Artful1

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
Actually, Scotty isn't dead. Not yet, anyway, the thing is, he has Alzheimers and the big goodbye was so that he would get to see it and participate in it, before he becomes incapable of knowing it.

Each Captain has fit his/her time to the best of their ability, When Voyager first started, I was not sure that I would like a female captain, but she turned out to be great, IMHO.
You're right, Artful, relevancy to the period was a big part of Star Trek's draw and also it's downfall, the fact that it found success and a new life in syndication proves that some things are better viewed from a little distance from the time of their happening.

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
Just don't get caught wearing the red uniforms on an away team lead by Kirk, I always want to yell "don't go" to the poor guy in the red shirt. knowing he won't be beaming back up...

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
Han Solo was actually a latent Gay Bestiality Fetishist. You saw him flying around with a "Wookie", then playing and laughing with "Ewoks". Although Vader was a righteous villain compared to the watered down ones in the new trilogy.

Listen here geeks. Both are great sci-fi wonders. I'm not all about either of them. But give it a rest nerds!!!

Now, I'm off to go play my online role-playing game where I live as a level 20 red mage Taru (kinda looks like a ewok without hair) and I shall embark on a quest to save the world of Vana'diel. After which I shall begin to organize my yu-gi-oh cards.

Geez, nerds. Find a hobby.

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
Oooo, that's a hard one K. All of them have been excellent, I'll do it like this, Original cast, The Voyage Home.
TNG, Insurrection
If they do another they better bring back Data,as himself, not his half wit brother, Nemesis was well on it's way to being my favorite till he got killed, I didn't see it coming and I was pissed!

Re: "WHO REALLY IS THE MAN"....??
Here is my "humble" opinions of the whole series.

Star Trek 1 - Vjer.. ok a bit far fetched for a satellite with 8kb of memory to rule the universe.

Star Trek 2 - Wrath of Khan --- Vengence is Mine.

Star Trek 3 - Search for Spock -- ho hum (but vulcan babes are hot)

Star Trek 4 - Voyage Home -- Cute but if they can time travel why not solve all problems that way.

Star Trek 5 - Final Frontier -- Ok is the galaxy not big enough? need to find god?

Star Trek 6 - Undiscovered -- Thank god for the Romulans.. peace indeed.

Star Trek 7 -- Generations -- I would just time travel ala "ST4" and save the world that way.

Star Trek 8 -- First Contact -- see, the Borg watched ST4 and figured out Time travel!

Star Trek 9 -- Insurrection -- "The Son'a wish to negotiate a cease-fire. It may have something to do with their ship having only three minutes of air left." (Worf) This line made the whole movie.

Star Trek 10 -- Nemesis -- I just didn't get this one... great action. great characters, story was about totally silly.
