Psychological effects of being single.
Let us examine the most significant psychological effects of long-term bachelorhood, exploring both the drawbacks and the hidden benefits of being alone. The majority of people grow overly cautious, not wanting to be hurt or rejected. Some feel isolated.
Single life tends to take a backseat, but it provides you the chance to build other attachments. Many find that they build more intense, richer bonds with friends during this time, having an excellent support group that can be just as fulfilling as romantic love.
Thriving as a long-term single is all about attitude, and taking proactive care of oneself.

Re: Psychological effects of being single.
Many people must face this situation and find it difficult to lift that isolation barrier and get out to meet new folk. They must feel they are not worthy enough to breakout and enter another circle of social activity in fear of rejection. From what I have seen it is usually through the lack of confidence in themselves. Humans do react better in herds and with a little time and patience could maybe convinced that they do actually have something useful to contribute, though I very much doubt this would work all the time. Worth a try though.

I'm sorry to hear Ash. I have many friends now that are grieving due to the loss of their spouse.
