Paddy’s new fashion wellies…
So Paddy’s out shopping with Aileen one day and they pass McGinty’s Fashion Footwear and Paddy immediately froze at what he saw in the window. In a dazzling spotlight display before him was the most amazing Wellington boots he had ever laid eyes upon. He begged to Aileen to go in and get a better look. As Paddy stood beside them gazing in awe, Mr McGinty piped up, ‘Aww to be sure, if ever a designer Wellie was made these are the ones just for you’. ‘A one-off pair made with DuPont galvanised rubber, go-faster stripes and buffed to a sheen that makes them like mirrors and at only £253. As Paddy looked down and saw his reflection staring back at himself, he looked up at Aileen with sad puppy eyes and she replied, ‘well Paddy, it will have to be your Christmas present as well as for your birt’day’. He was over the moon. The following weekend was the annual dance and Paddy could show off his new purchase. He took them out of the box and with a satin cloth gave them an extra shine. After a few pints of Guinness and merrily dancing the hall he happened to glance down and realised he could see up Aileen’s dress in the reflection of his boots. Paddy said, ‘those are lovely pink panties you’re wearing Aileen’. She replied, ‘well that was a lucky guess Paddy, you’re so clever’. He next danced with Ciara and as he glance down said, ‘those are lovely blue panties you have on tonight Ciara’. She too was amazed how Paddy had known. Then he danced with Niamh and when he looked down he was shocked. He had to look several times before saying, ‘Niamh, you’re not wearing any panties tonight’! She was amazed and said, ‘Paddy you’re right, how did you know’? Paddy replied, ‘thank Christ for that Niamh, I thought I had a split in my wellies’!
