What is different in your life compared to 5 years ago?
I am five years older. I've slowed down. I now longer begin to get ready at 8:30 at night to go out, I'm in bed. I drive slower. I've reconnected with a few friends. I'm learning to forgive quicker and love more.

Re: What is different in your life compared to 5 years ago?
Oh my God! Is that a coincidence or what? I too used to be 5 years younger.
They say when a person reaches 70 years old; they have one ailment for each of the 10 years they have lived. I have been extremely lucky. This year I will be 67 and have just one niggley problem I can live with. For various reasons on the male side of my family, the last four generations have died between the ages of 45 and 55 and for some other unknown reason, I have been chosen to exceed this by a wide margin and I’m not going to waste it! Yeah, while it is fond to look back to the days when the sun always shone, the world was mine and a KitKat was 4¢, I still wake up every day with excitement and enjoy the present and still wonder what my future will hold. I’m a kid at heart and always in pursuit of adventure, learning new things every day and I have vowed to grow old disgracefully. My ambition has always been to live until I am 125 years old and then be shot by a jealous husband...
Whilst bruises and cuts may take longer to heal, on the plus side, the older a person gets the less sleep the body needs. I’ll bed down anytime between 9pm-1am and could be having breakfast at 4am, but I must be up no later than 6am.For me, the brain is the key to all my functions. Keep that fit and the body will follow. Love lots, laugh loads and sometimes cry, after that move on. Don’t hold grudges, tolerate idiotic knobheads, occasionally turn off your cell phone and actually talk to people head on. Listen to what people have to say, coz they're interesting too. Keep your head up, keep ya tongue out and go for it.
I saw this many years ago and reckon it sums us all up...
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, beer in one hand, kebab in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming 'Wooohoooo - what a ride!'

My knees don’t love the stairs so much anymore. I drink a LOT less. I have an entirely different landscape of friends and activities and I’m constantly still changing my life. It has been a crazy five years for me and I’m glad at all the experiences I’ve had, and I feel it has shaped me for the better.

Re: What is different in your life compared to 5 years ago?
Health wise, I get my eyes checked for reading glasses more often and that's about it. I've gradually lost hair over many years so I don't consider it a problem of hindrance. As for my lifestyle, over the last 5 years no change. I retired at 47 and at 50 decided I wanted to do something different and moved to China and opted for rural China where the world as I knew it was completely different, it's 1965. The longest bus ride is 14¢, so don't bother now with car ownership and just keep my 2 stroke bikes and workshop for fun. I miss my UK friends as I don't have any Chinese friends as I cannot abide liars and it's in their nature, but catch up with mates when I visit the UK at least once a year. It's weird though. I consider myself educated and a fairly intelligent sorta guy, but with all the experiences and knowledge I gained through life, means jot here as it's a completely different world. To sum up, I'm getting on a bit in relation to numbers, but completely healthy and happy, which has gotta count for something.
